Basic Navigation and Safety Sailing Course

Sunsail’s RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course is a two-day shore-based course designed to provide students with an insight into navigation and safety at sea.

The course is ideal for those with some previous sailing experience, perhaps students have who achieved Competent Crew level but are not yet ready to take their Day Skipper Theory.

The RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course introduces chart work and navigation, showing students how to plot a course on a chart map as well as how to use GPS electronic navigation correctly. The course would be very useful for anyone heading on Flotilla.

The two-day Sunsail RYA Basic Navigation and Safety course will provide you with an essential insight into navigation & safety at sea. You will be taught how to plot your itinerary on a chart map as well as how to use electronic navigation on a GPS correctly.

Run from our base in Port Solent, the shorebased Basic Navigation and Safety course is not just for budding yacht sailors, but great for anyone who enjoys life out on the water.

This is the perfect course for anyone who has never looked at a chart before or those who have reached their Competent Crew level but do not feel ready to take their Day Skipper theory. This is a great advantage if you're heading out on Flotilla.
