Milina Flotilla in Greece
Sunsail’s Sporades base is at Milina, an attractive village located on the unspoilt eastern shores of the Gulf of Volos.
This is the gateway to the Sporades which consist of eleven islands – some busy, others remote - renowned for golden beaches, crystal clear waters and an abundance of quaint villages.
These islands are lusher than the southern islands of the Aegean – often forested all the way down to the beaches, one of the most famous of which is Koukanaries on Skiathos, said to be one of the best in all Greece.

The seas of the Gulf of Volos tend to be sheltered, with winds ranging from 10 – 20 knots ( 11 - 23 mph), but in July and August the winds of the Meltemi from the North East can be strong, making Milina flotilla sailing suitable for experienced sailors looking for some exhilarating sailing.
There are a good variety of short and long hops, with line-of-sight navigation throughout. Summer weather is generally sunny and warm, with temperatures averaging 30 C (86 F).

Day 1Arrive at Flotilla base, Milina
Day 2
Paleo Trikeri, Gulf of Volos & 7 miles, 1 hour
Enjoy a peaceful stroll up the hill to the old monastery on this small island home to only a dozen or so houses.
Day 3
Koukanaries, Skiathos & 23 miles, 3-4 hours
There are several villages you can sail past on your way to Koukanaries & one of the best beaches in Greece.
Day 4
Glossa, Skopelos & 10 miles, 2-3 hours
Moor up at this seaside village where you can climb the hillside to nearby Glossa and enjoy a meal with stunning views over the harbour.
Day 5
Khondri Ammos, Skiathos & 15 miles, 2-3 hours
Explore the southern side of the Trikeri Peninsula on your way to Khondri Ammos for the flotilla BBQ.
Day 6
Pegadi, Gulf of Volos & 12 miles, 2 hours
With perfect sailing conditions and crystal clear, glistening waters, sailing this bay between Trikeri and Pegadi is a real highlight.

Return to Flotilla Base, Milina
