RYA Competent Crew Practical in Canary Islands
The Canary Islands offer perfect year-round conditions for learning to sail or improving your skills as crew or Skipper. Combine winter sunshine with a stunning landscape, lively nightlife, superb sailing and Sunsail's expert tuition, and you have an amazing week on and off the water.
The aim of the course is to introduce the complete beginner to cruising under sail, thereby enabling them to be an active crew member. This will be achieved having completed 5 days, 100 miles at sea in tidal waters and 4 night hours.
This is the perfect stepping stone for anyone wanting to climb aboard and have the freedom to be able to set sail in the stunning seas that await you in some of the world's most mesmerising countries. Sunsail offer this course at all of our worldwide bases within this brochure and is available for adults and children aged 8 years and over, as well as a family course and ladies only too!
Although you have the option to familiarise yourself with the basics of yacht sailing prior to this RYA course, it is not a requirement that you have any previous sailing experience. After this course, you will have sound knowledge and understanding of the yacht, including basic rope work, mooring up and casting off as well as gain confidence under sail and under power.
On completion of the Competent Crew course you will be able to set sail on any of our Level 0 Easy Flotillas.
