Trip Highlights

This course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for complete beginners, requiring no previous sailing or boating experience.

If you want to get a feel for this fantastic pastime, then this is the perfect choice for you. This two-day practical course is a great introduction to sailing, giving you the basic knowledge of how to steer a yacht, raise the sails, rope handling and awareness of safety on board. You will also experience sailing at night on this course.

Your first sailing course, together with the early stages of learning, is one of the most important steps on your yachting journey. As sailors ourselves, we understand this, and so will ensure that our Instructors give you the very best foundations to get you going.

As this is an RYA course, you will gain a full qualification on completion and can also use it towards your Competent Crew qualification. This would mean that you would only need to complete a further 3 days or 2 weekends to obtain the next level as a competent member of crew.

Ability after course:-
Basic understanding of sailing including the ability to tie a variety of knots, experience of steering under power and sailing on all points of sail. You will also be able to use winches, obtain weather forecast and know what to do when a man overboard.
