Easy passages and secure anchorages make a Phuket yacht charter in the protected waters of the Andaman Sea and Phang-Nga Bay an absolute pleasure for sailors. Daytime temperatures average 32 C (89 F) from July to February; from March to June it is hotter.

Winds range from 5 – 20 knots (5 – 23 Mph), SW from May to October when winds are at there strongest, and NE from November to April. Navigation is often line-of-sight, but skippers need to be aware of coral reefs and tidal currents in narrow channels.

Pre-course experience
5 Days sailing, 100 miles, 4 night hours and theory.
Pre-exam experience
10 Days sailing, 200 miles, 8 night hours and theory.

Day skipper theory knowledge essential. To do the day skipper practical course you require a full working knowledge of the theory, including: chartwork, navigation, how to plot a course, how to plot estimated position and leeway, application of deviation and variation, plotting transits, making a passage plan, iala bouyage system, light characteristics, safety & emergency equipment.
