Hamilton Island is perhaps the most commercialised of all the Whitsundays and its ever-developing marina is a major draw for sailing enthusiasts. Still retaining its tropical charm, the island is home to Sunsail's Whitsunday base. With everything you would expect from a resort, the shops, restaurants, bars, take-aways, sports centre, nightclub and fauna park are all within easy reach of the base, particularly with the help of a golf-like buggy & the islands unique mode of transport!

This course will enable you to skipper a yacht by day or night in familiar waters, incorporating pilotage, navigation and boat handing.

A comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation and meteorology. An invaluable insight into learning how to make decisions on board.

Pre-course experience
5 days seas time, 100 miles tidal waters and 4 night hours. Day Skipper Theory knowledge essential.

10 Days sailing, 200 miles, 8 night hours and theory.

Day skipper theory knowledge essential. To do the day skipper practical course you require a full working knowledge of the theory, including: chartwork, navigation, how to plot a course, how to plot estimated position and leeway, application of deviation and variation, plotting transits, making a passage plan, iala bouyage system, light characteristics, safety &amp; emergency equipment.
